I know it can be confusing. You
see all these DJs making claims of Best DJ, or Wedding
Entertainment Director or Master of Ceremony, or Emcee, or MC.
You may be wondering WHY?
Well many years ago, I started
Atlanta's Best DJ. In 2000 I put up this website
www.AtlantasBestDJ.com. And if you click on that link
you'll see the original website in all it's horrific glory.
I quickly obtained VERY good
search engine rankings. Then I started teaching others about how
to improve their search engine rankings. I didn't realize they
would start taking my company name and use variations of it to
improve their rankings. Oh well what can you do.
Now what about this
Wedding Entertainment Director™
and MC stuff?
Well here we go
again.
To be a DJ, all one
needs to do is get some music and some audio equipment and say
"hey everybody, I'm a DJ".
So finally a couple
of years ago someone decided to raise the standard. And it is a
REALLY high standard. That new standard is the
Wedding Entertainment Director™
and
currently I am the only one who has passed this rigorous
application in the state of Georgia.
So you may see DJ's
trying to copy the title by just saying they are an
entertainment director. Well, you can check for yourself to see
if they are a
Wedding Entertainment Director™
or if they just made up a title.
As for the MC,
Emcee, Master of Ceremony. Well there is only 1 Master of
Ceremonies workshop for DJs. It is the
MarBecca Method workshop It is a VERY difficult workshop
because it stretches you as a performer and you are videotaped
and critiqued and given a lot of information on how to improve
immediately and how to continue to improve.
I brought this
workshop to Atlanta in 2008 and there were only a few Atlanta
DJs who attended. It might have been because it was hard, it
might have been because it was expensive, it might have been
because it required two 10 hour days during the week, but the
few Atlanta DJs that attended that and the other workshops I
have held, have probably EARNED the right to be called the Best
Atlanta DJs and Best Atlanta MCs.
So when you see
Atlanta's Best DJ well that's my company, but when you see Best
MC or Best Atlanta this or that, it may be someone that is
pretty good, or it may be someone who is just copying my success
and training.
It IS the training
and experience that makes the difference.
